Ken is the newest member to the band and moved to Cromer in 2003. He is a genuine cockney from East London where he started his musical career in the 1950s as a local choirboy. He was then recruited as a chorister at St.Pauls Church in Covent Garden and sometimes sang at the mother church of St. Pauls Cathedral and at other functions including TV Christmas specials in Trafalgar Square.
At school Ken proved to be a natural musician and was coaxed by his music teachers to play many instruments, and to take Theory of Music exams with day releases to attend the Royal School of Music. He went on to become a multi-instrumentalist, but his first love was always the guitar.
He played his first paying booking way back in 1962 and got 2/6d (12.5p). In his career he has played with many bands on rhythm, bass, lead and finger-picking guitar, and regularly as a solo artist. Ken has returned to the bass guitar to join the band which he is enjoying so much, he just bought 2 new bass guitars to compliment his collection.
Ken’s other musical interests are singing with the Bure Valley Male Voice Choir and performing musical theatre for more than 20 years, most recently with the Sheringham Savoyards at the Little Theatre. This is all excellent training for singing the demanding 4 part harmony numbers the band performs.
